—
Evan: “Hi there everyone. I’m Evan Glassman with Utah Contract Sewing and I’m interviewing Anya Poltova.”
Anya: “Hi everyone!”
Evan: “She’s our newest member here. I’ve got some hard-hitting questions for you, Anya. Are you ready?”
Anya: “Ooh, yes absolutely am I ready.”
Evan: “What got you interested in designing soft goods and what’s your mission, really?”
Anya: “Ah, The biggest interest for me is to create a better future to be able to create something for tomorrow that doesn’t exist now, and this is my biggest inspiration.”
Evan: “Okay, anything particular in soft goods that you love working on? Any particular apparel? Bags?
Anya: “Yeah mostly it’s sports apparel and accessories because I do like sports myself. I like snowboarding, skiing, ice skating, whatever.”
Evan: “Nice. That’s good. That’s why you’re here in Salt Lake, partly.”
Anya: “Yes, yes That’s why I’m here.”
Evan: “Well we’re happy to have you. And then tell us a little about your background, from Russia, and how you ended up here.”
Anya: “I was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia and that’s where…”
Evan: “Beautiful Saint Petersburg?”
Anya: “Yes, that’s where I’m getting my master’s degree and that’s where, also, I was taught to paint, draw, and then my degree’s in view of textiles so I know lots about materials
and how to work with them in many, many wearable techniques.”
Evan: “It’s fun to watch you work because you employ a lot of background research and your sketching process is really good. We’ll look at that in our next interview. But yeah, It’s some impressive background where you’re coming from and where you want to go, what you want to do.”
Anya: “Yes, yes now it’s time to be active. Before, I was standing still, I was gathering all knowledge and my skills and now it’s time to put in the work. That’s why I’m here.”
Evan: “Alright, your time is now. In a few years I’ll be disappeared. It’ll be you and the guys. Alright so that’s it, for now, from UCS in Salt Lake City, Utah. We do design, development, prototyping, production here locally in Utah and overseas with our manufacturing partners on all kinds of soft goods including apparel. Over and out, your director and reporter here. Thank you Anya.”
Anya: “Thank you Evan.”
